Courage, Vision, Communication- 3 Essential Performance Fuels

Lately it seems that every speech I give or every training session I offer ends up coming back to the importance of interlocking these three elements. How do they connect and why are they so important to business and personal success?
- Courage is about being willing to stand for something and often up to somebody… you’re ready to take the risk of disrupting a personal or professional relationship because of a principle that’s important… you’re ready and willing to upset the status quo.
- Vision is often the foundation for courage… if you have a clear vision of who you want to be personally and professionally, then you are usually more willing to be courageous…you know what’s important in your bones. You set up healthy boundaries that keep you aligned to your vision and when they are crossed, you are ready to have dialogue about it.
- Communication is essential to being able to articulate your vision in a way that you gain support, whether it is from clients or employees. It’s the skill that enables you to successfully and courageously engage with others. Without the ability to communicate, your courage may become tactlessness that doesn’t cause positive change or your vision may become a dusty document on a shelf.
Watch this site in the coming weeks for upcoming events and webinars on these topics. One of these events will be when I speak as part of the Key Collective in Chicago on Creating Your Business Plans: Visioning & Goal Setting.
